1.) What is the capacity of the decking ?

The capacity will vary on the steel thickness ( the gauge of the steel ) used and the height
of the decking ( 1.5" high decking is stronger than 7/8" high decking ). The application of the decking also influences the capacity. For example, a deck panel used in a pallet rack with a short 36" rack depth will carry a good deal more weight than that same decking panel used in a 64" deep span rack. The same holds true for mezzanine applications. A mezzanine that has floor supports every 3 feet will have a higher pounds- per-square-foot capacity versus a mezzanine that has floor supports every 5 feet.

When we are preparing the quotation for your particular application, we consider all of these factors to determine the appropriate steel gauge for the job. For specific load capacities per square foot of different gauges see the LOAD TABLES section in this web site.

2.) What are the sizes of the decking?

The most common panel widths are 30" wide and 36" wide. The lengths of the panels will vary from job to job. As a roll-former / manufacturer, we cut the panels in the roll formers to the specific lengths you require as the steel is being formed. We can cut panels from 25 inches to 25 feet long ! Our cutting tolerance is typically + 0" - 1/8" for a precision fit in your rack beams.

3.) How much does it cost ?

The cost of the steel decking is determined by quantity, gauge of material, finish, solid or perforated, and decking height. Typically, we can fax quotations to you within an hour. Please see our Request-A-Quote page to recieve a quote on one of our various decking solutions.

4.) Does it come in different colors ?

Our standard finish is a baked on enamel finish in an "INDUSTRIAL / PUTTY GRAY" or a "BRIGHT WHITE". The white painted finish is commonly used in mezzanine and catwalk applications for a bright reflective finish underneath the mezzanine where lights are hung.

An optional GALVANIZED and even STAINLESS STEEL finish is available.

5.) What is your typical delivery ?

Our typical delivery is 2-3 weeks. Some heavier gauge material or panels with the optional: galvanized finish and perforations will commonly add a week for an approximate delivery of 3 - 4 weeks.

6.) How does it ship ?

Smaller orders of the decking ship by over-the-road LTL common carrier freight lines. These ship CLASS 50, in very dense bundles for easy handling and unloading. (See the APPLICATIONS section for an illustration). For long length panels used in mezzanines, carpet rack and catwalks, the panels are shipped on a flatbed truck.

7.) Why would I use PERFORATED PANELS ?

The perforations allow water drainage to the level below in the event that overhead sprinklers release water for fire suppression. See the APPLICATIONS section for a more detailed illustration and explanation.
